Chasing My Dreams of Becoming a Successful Business Woman

Chasing My Dreams of Becoming a Successful Business Woman

I'm 20 years old, and like a lot of people my age, I have big dreams. I want to build my own business and become a successful businesswoman one day. But, honestly, the journey isn’t always easy. There are days when I’m super motivated and feel like I can take on the world, and then there are days where I’m just sitting there, questioning everything. Still, deep down, I know all the hard work and challenges are worth it.

Right now, I’m figuring out how to balance so many different things—learning the business side of things, managing my time, and building up my brand. Here’s how I’m tackling it all, step by step.

Leadership & Management

Even though I’m not leading a team just yet, I know I need to develop leadership skills now. I’m learning to trust my decisions more, especially when it comes to choosing which clients to work with or deciding on the direction of my projects. I keep reminding myself that leadership is more about learning and growing through mistakes than it is about having everything figured out right away.

Financial Acumen

I’ll admit, finance was something I avoided at first. I didn’t want to deal with numbers, spreadsheets, or budgets. But the more I learn, the more I realize how important it is to understand how money works. I’ve started setting small financial goals, creating budgets, and learning about investments. I know that the better I get at managing my finances now, the more confident I’ll be in running my business later.

Personal Branding

If there’s one thing I’ve been working on, it’s my personal brand. As someone who spends a lot of time on social media, I’ve learned that building an authentic online presence is crucial. It’s not just about posting pretty pictures but about being real and connecting with people who believe in my vision. I’ve been sharing more of my journey, my challenges, and my wins with my audience, and it’s amazing to see how people respond when you’re open and honest.

Networking

I used to be super shy about reaching out to people, but I’ve learned that networking is a game-changer. Whether it’s through Instagram DMs, virtual events, or just reaching out to people I admire, I’m trying to build meaningful connections. It’s awkward sometimes, but I’ve already met a few mentors and collaborators who push me to grow and help me see things from different perspectives. I’ve realized that the more people I connect with, the more opportunities open up.

Work-Life Balance

This is probably the hardest part for me. I get so caught up in working toward my goals that sometimes I forget to take breaks and look after myself. But I’m learning that taking time for self-care, hanging out with friends, and just stepping away from work is important too. I’m slowly figuring out how to find balance so I don’t burn out before I get to where I want to be.

I know I have a long way to go, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. It’s not always easy, and there are days when I feel like I’m not moving fast enough. But I’m learning to enjoy the process, knowing that each step brings me closer to my goals.

If you’re chasing big dreams too, remember that it’s okay to not have everything figured out. The important thing is to keep going, keep learning, and trust that it’ll all pay off in the end. We’ve got this!
